Since February 2020, GiKaD has been registered at Haus des Stiftens and we learned that AfB social & green IT group has been offering refurbished computers and laptops to non-profit associations  with special conditions. These computers were used in the past to lease out to their customers and returned to the companies when the lease expired.

Currently, it is not possible to mail those refurbished computers and laptops directly to Vietnam and they must be hand-carried.

In January 2023, Mr. and Mrs. Lange, who are GiKaD’s supporters, came to Vietnam and brought two laptops with Windows 10 operating system, HP EliteBook 840 G3 (i7-6500U, 8G Ram, SSD 256GB). These computers met the minimum requirements needed by our students to study since the software only runs on Windows 10. Before leaving Vietnam, Mr. Lange even gave his own laptop and iPhone 6s to one of our students, Thao Linh.

The computers have been tested by NGOC COMPUTER CO. LTD. They also install software for several learning applications and provide additional accessories such as Wi-Fi booster, mouse, carrying bag, etc.

On June 15, 2023, Ms. Ngoc Anh and Ms. Mai, Vice Principal of Vo Thanh Trang High School, invited the following students to their school:

1) Tran Thao Linh, 8th grade, recipient of Mr. Lange's laptop and iPhone.

2) Nguyen Hoang Thien, 10 grade, recipient of a Lenovo Thinkpad T480 laptop.

3) Le Thanh Nguyen, 10 grade, recipient of a Lenovo ThinkPad T560 laptop.

4) Nguyen Tran Khac Tuan, 10th grade, recipient of a Mac Mini Apple (Late 201) (i5-4278U, 8GB Ram, HDD 1TB) from Ms. Tran Phuong Thien Nga.

Since the students were not informed the reason why they had to go to school to see the vice principal, their joy upon receiving the computers on that day could not be expressed in words. Being given a computer was not only a huge surprise, but it was also truly a dream come true for them. Hoang Thien wrote in his thank-you letter: "My feelings when I received the computer were indescribable because I did not expect that someone would give me a gift of such great value. This gift lifts my spirit tremendously and motivates me to try harder. I want to take really good care of the computer to make it last longer to accompany me throughout my school years. I know that there are other students who are in the same situation as me, but I am fortunate enough to receive this valuable support. Because of that, I must strive to study harder, be successful so I can help other students in the future”.

Many children are still on the waiting list because it is difficult to find laptops with the same pedigree in Vietnam. Therefore, it will help students tremendously at school if you can help bring a small laptop in your hand-carried luggage in your trips to Vietnam.

On this special occasion, Ms. Ngoc Anh also presented the students with some ceramic products that were made by the students themselves when they participated in the New Year's meeting on January 8th, 2023.  The money used to make these ceramic products was provided by the parents in Ms. Lily's English class. There was also a gift certificate from Phuong Nam bookstore provided by our own EgoStom’s judge, Ms. Phuong Anh.
