The 2 ways that you can support our poor students in Vietnam

1)  The Greenleaves Scholarship is a basic scholarship with the following levels:
- Elementary school (USD80/year)
- Secondary school (USD 100/year)
- High school (USD120/year)
- College/university study (USD 230/year).
Every year, schools will send their scholarship applications to GiKaD. GiKaD will then arrange meetings to meet the children and their parents (or grandparents or guardians if they do not have parents, etc.). We thoroughly review their family situation, family income, and interview them about their schooling, future career plans, dreams, interests, inspirations, etc. In addition, GiKaD made trips the student’s home to observe the student's daily activities.
Once the application is approved, GiKaD will help search for the sponsor.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, the Greenleaves scholarships were awarded to a total of 86 students, including:

- 8 university & college students

- 26 high school students
- 44 middle school students
- 8 elementary school students.

2) The special GL500+ scholarship is for students who have been granted the basic Greenleaves scholarship and are studying in high school or higher level and have dreams of pursuing higher education. The GL500+ scholarship will bear the name of the sponsor, for example "J. Doe Scholarship", "A. Nguyen Scholarship" etc. and be funded for a minimum period of 3 years with an amount of at least USD 500 /year. Details about GL500+ scholarship can be found in this link (please click on the link).
Students must apply/ reapply for the GL500+ scholarship each year and the final decision is at the sponsor’s discretion.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, 21 GL500+ scholarships were awarded to 22 students.

Because the Greenleaves Scholarship can only help the students with approximately 1/3 of the annual school expense, the remaining cost must be provided by their families. To further support them, GiKaD also has additional programs. These programs are supported by the GiKaD's general fund such as:

1) EgoStom: 3,600,000 VND - 6,000,000 VND/year (USD 160 - USD 240/year) for each student depending on their academic performance and family income. The intent is to offer additional help to poor students who have excellent academic performance. To qualify, every quarter, students must submit an essay with the given topics that put emphasis on morals, ethics. The purpose of writing an essay after reading the fable is for students to express their inner thoughts, their own evaluation and their lesson learns. Details about Egostom can be found here.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, 25 EgoStom grants were provided to students.

2) PC4Kids: donate computers/laptops to support learning activities for students from high school level and above.

As of the 2023-2024 academic year, 22 computers (19 laptops and 3 desktops) have been given to students.

3) Prizes/Awards: Monetary rewards for good students from Junior High and above. The selected students will be rewarded with

- Half a scholarship prize if they were excellent students during the previous school year.
- University admission bonus: 2,000,000 VND – 3,000,000 VND
- Acceptance to 10th Grade bonus: 1,000,000 VND

In the 2022-2023 academic year, 25 students received awards for good conduct and an annual average score above 8.0, accounting for nearly 30% of the total students who received the Greenleaves scholarships.

4) New Year “Tet” Lucky money: Currently GiKaD give 200,000 VND if the student does not receive his/her own lucky money from the sponsor.

5) Other Special Supports: GiKaD has also provided programs for special circumstances to help our desperate students during the Covid epidemic, provide school desks and chairs, school backpacks, etc. Some information about these special supports can be found in the following links:
