Visit An Phu Dong Secondary School

On August 24th, 2024, Ms. Yến and Ms. Ngọc Anh visited An Phu Dong Secondary School in District 12 to work with Ms. Liên, the teacher responsible for managing and distributing scholarships to students. They also met with students who had changed from Phạm Văn Chiêu Primary School to An Phu Dong Secondary School.

Here is a brief overview of the current situation of the children and their families:

  • Phạm Nguyễn Tuyết Ân: Her father suffered a spinal injury in an accident and is unable to work. Her mother works as a seamstress in a garment factory.
  • Tăng Nguyễn Gia Hân: Her father has colon cancer, already operated and is currently under treatment. Her mother works in a kitchen assistant in an eatery, daily from 4:00 am to 2:00 pm, six days a week, earning 200,000 VND/day. In the afternoons, she sells vegetables to supplement the family income.
  • Nguyễn Ngọc Chi Mai: Her father works at a construction additive manufacturing company, and her mother suffers from a chronic illness. She runs a small informal business selling daily necessities on a small scale.
  • Phạm Nguyễn Hồng Ngọc: She was transferred to the sixth grade at Trần Hưng Đạo Secondary School because her family temporarily resides in another area. Her father is a driver, and her mother is a homemaker.
  • Võ Nguyễn Hoài My: Her father drives a small truck transporting goods, and her mother works in a garment factory.
  • Lý Thanh Phương: Her father works in a factory sewing belts, and her mother is a freelance seamstress for a clothing store.
  • Nguyễn Gia Bảo: Her father is unemployed, and her mother runs a small informal business selling daily necessities.
  • Thái Ngọc Bích Trâm: Her parents have remarried and left her and her twin sister to be raised by their grandmother. The grandmother sells snails on the street from the afternoon until the evening. The girls live with an aunt to save on rental costs. During the summer, they help their grandmother sell snails. The grandmother mentioned that Bích Trâm is considering leaving school to support her financially.
  • Bùi Quốc Huy: He was in the 8th grade but dropped out of school. His father claims he was not good at school and does not want to continue studying. The family moved to Gò Vấp due to the father's job.

Each child received 100,000 VND as a gift and participated in a raffle for small prizes such as cups, porcelain containers, thermos bottles, pencil cases, scented soap, and other items donated by Ms. Ngọc Anh.
